Stress is everywhere in our modern world and is a significant contributor to both psychiatric and medical illness. Stress causes the body to tighten and contract. It can make us feel ungrounded and overwhelmed. Stress usually makes everything worse and, if high enough, can markedly impair our ability to function.
Stress is a high energy, and higher energies generally make us feel good, but stress doesn’t because it is a discordant, choppy energy. Stress can also trigger the release of difficult energy and emotions from the body armor (fear, shame, sorrow, anger, rage, etc.) which can compound our difficulties. It is important to learn how to effectively remove stress energy from the body. People in highly stressful jobs or circumstances may need to release stress energy from body multiple times per day.
It is difficult to heal depression and other mental disorders when stress levels are high.
