Ecotherapy can be a powerful healing modality, particularly if we engage nature with our feeling and perceiving body (instead of just walking through a nature area with our attention mostly bound to our thoughts, problems, and difficulties). The FEELING THE MAGIC OF NATURE AS YOU WALK can enliven the body-mind, eliminate stress, and restore us to peace and tranquility. Ecotherapy can also bring more life-force into the body which helps us feel our emotions (as life-force is inherently feeling).

When we are depressed or anxious there is a strong tendency for our attention to glom onto our negative thoughts and then we think about our problems and difficulties over and over again (known as ruminating). Part of the challenge of this exercise is to shift our attention from our problems and onto nature—seeing, smelling, feeling, perceiving, touching, and hearing nature in all of its majesty.
